Assignment 7 - Cat Lucier - A Haven for Intellectuals
Over fall break my mum and I drove up to Indiana and visited Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. I loved it. Rose really clicked with me. It is the number one engineering school in the country. It had an incredible air of erudition that I loved. Greek life is minimal, there are no grad students, every professor has a doctorate and has a main purpose of teaching. All of the faculty are there to ensure you have a plethora of academic resources should you need them. Everybody is close (total population 2100). Everywhere was studiously quiet - even the common areas. Rose-Hulman is the embodiment of my perfect college experience. No partying, presence of the arts (they have a gorgeous theater similar to the Singletary center but about a third the size), cozy dorms, an intense dedication to the chosen area of study, beautiful campus, somewhat north (I love the cold), not too far from my parents, I could go on. I'm going to college because I love to learn. I want a college that will provide the environment and the academics for me to do that to my full potential.
