Assignment 12- Mary Huffman- What if I don't even make it into college?

I'm usually a quiet person around people I don't know. When I do decide to have a conversation, I usually make a joke and try to carry on a dialogue from there. People have told me I come off as mean at first, even bitchy, if I may. I think that once people get to know me, I'm not quite as mean as they thought. In my opinion, I'm a pretty good listener and I try to give the best advice I can whenever I'm asked for it. I'm usually more messy than organized, and I've recently become much more of a risk taker than I used to be. As cheesy as it sounds, one of my favorite things is making new friends. As a rule, I try not to seem arrogant, overly confident, or self-absorbed, though sometimes it can show if a lot of positive things have recently happened in my life. I enjoy music, theatre, and all the other arts you can think of, though I'm not particularly talented in any of those things. My roommate should expect to hear off-tune singing through the walls, but only at respectful hours. I hate to be a burden, so asking favors of people is something I try to avoid- I'd much rather solve a problem by myself than have to rely on somebody else. Don't be mistaken, I love to help others whenever possible, I just would rather resolve my own issues more independently. Long story short, I'm more than meets the eye, which you'll discover as we spend more time together.
