assignment 14- Davis Mattingly
I find myself being one of the few people truly excited for thanksgiving, and I'm not even sure why myself. Most everyone else seems to care far more about the upcoming winter season and Christmas (Or whichever holiday they may celebrate in that time), and find turkey day a bit more of a pleasant road bump on the journey there rather than a proper holiday in of itself. But, for me, thanksgiving is getting almost a whole week off of work or school for a day dedicated to nothing but eating food, and that's exactly how my family treats it. It isn't a day of family "coming together", as we see each other probably too much throughout the year as is. Instead, we have multiple thanksgivings throughout the break, each at a different family member's house who's known to be a good cook, and spend a few hours there eating some good food and catching up a bit, maybe playing a bit of poker. After that, we say our farewells, but we know we'll see each other again in a day or two at thanksgiving #2
