Assignment 12- Daniel Mendoza Vasquez
To be clear, I would prefer not to have a roommate in college. I would much rather rent my own shitty little apartment. I like having control over my domain and I certainly don’t mind being alone sometimes. However, if the situation were to arise—given that most college kids are kinda broke— I would first make it clear to my new roommate that I am a reasonably clean and organized person. I don’t mind a stack of paper strewn over the table here or a couple of empty water bottles over there, but if their clothes are layered across the floor so much so that it makes it hard to walk, I’ll have a problem with it. And don’t leave half-consumed plates of food lying around everywhere, that’s disgusting. Other than that, I don’t have anything to ask and I wouldn’t anticipate any problem living with me. I could care less about what my roommate does or doesn’t do so long as it doesn’t interfere with me, and I’m unbothered by most things (except what I already explained). So, regardless of what they like or what their personality is, I’m sure we’ll get along well. We’ll listen to my music sometimes, and other times I’ll indulge in whatever they like. If we like the same things, then that’s cool too. Anyways, if my goal here is to “sell” myself as an appealing roommate to another person, then my best asset would be indifference. All I ask is that they not be a complete slob and respect my space and taste.
