I love Northwestern.
Chicago is perhaps my favorite city in the US. It is a big city with historical landmarks and opportunity, but it is not suffocating like New York. It is close enough to home that I can appease my parents, yet far away enough so that I have some freedom. Being a student at Northwestern gives me the perks of getting free public transportation and admission to most museums, allowing me to make the most out of my time in the city. The campus has a view of the city from Lake Michigan, and Evanston is a gorgeous little college town. The location is fantastic.
For my predicament, as laid out in "Master of None," Northwestern would accommodate my inability to decide what I want to do with my life, as 1/3rd of my classes would be electives, allowing me to explore other areas of study. It also has a fantastic public policy school, if that is what I end up wanting to pursue.
I visited last spring, and out of the few colleges that I visited, something clicked. Other schools seemed pretty pretentious and full of themselves, but Northwestern was able to feel humble despite its high academic standings. It felt like a place I wanted to go, not just for the clout of going to a prestigious institution, but a place I could actually call home for 4 years of my life.
Now I just have to get in... easy enough, right?
