One of my biggest fears is being in a plane crash. Not the act of flying in general, but being in an actual crash. This is for several reasons. First and foremost, you have no control over the situation. If a plane suddenly nosedives, you have no ability to change or rectify the situation and you know that you have moments before crashing. Another reason is that I don't trust planes. They don't feel very sturdy and turbulence often makes them feel rickety. One time after I had sat down on the plane before taking off I looked out of the window and saw one of the workers duct-taping part of the wing of the plane. This did not boost my confidence. The likelihood of surviving the crash is also very slim. In the odd chance you crash in the ocean and survive you'll be lost at sea without food or water and likely no signal to call for help, another one of my fears.
