Assignment 14 - Cat Lucier - Thanksgiving for 4

You may know by now that my family has been vegetarian since before I was born. We have some different Thanksgiving traditions because of this. One of them is making walnut meatballs with apricot barbecue sauce. They are really healthy and super delicious. I usually make a batch of 50 or so, and they're gone within a day or two, depending on how many people were at the dinner and are in the house. Another tradition is for me to make roasted pears. You take some slightly unripe pears and cut them in half and cover them in butter and sugar and vanilla and bake them until the sugar is caramelized good god they are heavenly. My immediate family and I used to go to my grandma or aunt's houses with the rest of my mum's side of the family, but that was when we lived in Utah, which is much closer to Oregon and California than is Kentucky. Now we mostly stay here and just have thanksgiving with ourselves or maybe some close friends. My mum and dad and I cook all day, and sometimes even the preceding day, and when dinnertime rolls around, we have a significant feast prepared. My sister is kind of a grouch so doesn't usually help without a big argument, but I don't mind because she would just get in the way and mess things up anyway. She usually just sets the table.
